Web Sites for Education Research

PBS Teacher Source: Offers a quality curriculum resource for teachers and educators. Provides 3,500 lesson plans and activities arranged by general subject categories, and then by grade levels, for quick access to relevant materials. All lesson plans come with objectives, links to various state and national standards, materials, procedures, assessment ideas, extensions/adaptations, and resource lists.
Teacher's Network: K-12 teacher's dream, providing educational resources and contact with other teachers. As a nonprofit organization, TeachNet has been in operation since 1996.
National Science Digital Library: Organized point of access to collections and services for science, technology, engineering, and mathermatics education and research.
Education World: Education topics include subjects such as math, social sciences, and history as well as categories such as K-12 schools, educational organizations, and special education. Includes lesson planning, curriculum, books in education, administrators, education site reviews, education news, featured articles, and cool schools of the week.
Educator's Reference Desk: The Ask-ERIC site and question-answer service were discontinued in 2003, being replaced by the ERD. This new site includes the 2,000 lesson plans, 3,000 pointers to education information and organizations, and 200 question archive fromerly available from Ask-ERIC.
Peterson's: Peterson's, known for print guides that cover US-accredited educational institutions and provide career information, has duplicated many of the company's products in a well-organized hypertext environment that provides hotlinks to programs, institutions, and other useful information.
New York Times Learning Network: This site offers sections for students, teachers, and parents with daily lesson plans, a daily news quiz, and grade level rated activities and articles for grades 3 through 12.
Wright Center for Science Education: The site from Tufts University offers a link to classroom activities for teachers and other links to the "Arrow of Time" where you can "view the past, present and future of the universe" and the "Science Olympiad." One of the goals of this site is to "improve science teaching in elementary and secondary schools."
Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills: This is a direct link to the Texas Education Agency's web site on "Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills". This is a full-text, downloadable version of TEKS. It is arranged by chapter and discipline and grade level .
Digital Library for Earth System Education: This is a great site for science educators. It allows topic search narrowed by grade level and resource type. It also links to National Science Education Standards by grade level.
Children's Literature Web Guide: Provides rich resources in children's literature for teachers, librarians, scholars, parents, and even children
Texas Education Agency: Home site of the state government agency responsible for education
Texas Education Directory: The Texas Education Directory system provides current directory and mailing information for Texas education related organizations such as schools, school districts, and Regional Education Service Centers. Provided by the Texas Education Agency.
Region III Education Service Center: Web site for education service center serving Victoria and surrounding school districts
Texas Colleges & Universities: Links (provided by the VC/UHV Library Reference staff) to home pages for Texas junior colleges and senior universities in the state.
Child Care & Early Education Research Connections: This research site is created by the National Center for Children in Poverty at Columbia University, the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research, Child Care Bureau, OPRE, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Links to more that 12,000 full-text research articles and links to downloadable data sets are provided through research connection.
