Faculty Services
Reserve
Faculty may request that Media Center items be placed on reserve for students to view. We have several reserve options:
- Library Reserve - placed in the Media Center for students to check out and view in the Media Center alone or in a group.
- Limited Check Out - You can allow them to be checked out for home viewing, but we can restrict the loan period to 1, 3 or 7 days.
- Synergy Broadcast system - We can place the videorecording you want your students to view in our Synergy Broadcast System. The recording will then be available to view in your classroom. (Campus bandwidth issues may prevent best viewing at this time.)
- On Campus Delivery - We will deliver the media item to you for classroom use or to check out on a limited time basis.
Faculty should contact the Access Services Librarian at the beginning of each semester to place items on reserve.
Be aware that the method of reserve delivery may be dependent on copyright or license restrictions on multimedia items. Planning in advance will avoid unpleasant surprises.
Media Booking
Faculty may book media materials to use for classroom instruction several months in advance. This will ensure availability of the material for the specific date(s) needed. Booking requests may be submitted online by filling out a booking request form. Requests may also be sent by email and sent to Abraham Mendoza , Media Center Assistant or by calling 361-570-4196.
Media Purchase
We welcome faculty media purchase requests. Media items are expensive, so each request must be evaluated according to whether it meets the scope of our collection or if funding is available. Orders can be submitted through this Media Purchase Request Form.
Copy Services
The Media Center has equipment and software to copy your home-produced audiocassettes, videotapes, and LP records to newer technology formats, such as CD and DVD. Be aware that copyright restrictions govern the copying of commercially produced media. See the Media Librarian for details.
