VC/UHV Library

Cooperative Agreements

The cooperative agreements enjoyed by the VC/UHV Library continue to play a large role in the library's ability to serve its students and faculty.

Of primary importance is the cooperation between the Victoria College and the University of Houston-Victoria in providing a joint library for the use of all students.

Our cooperation with the Victoria Public Library, in place since 1981, provides both libraries with an integrated library system, Dynix, providing circulation, cataloging, and online catalog capabilities.

TexShare, a statewide resource sharing consortium sponsored by the Texas State Library, provides to the libraries of Texas over 40 electronic databases. The resources of TexShare, while cut this year due to budget constraints, still enable small libraries like ours to have holdings and resources once enjoyed only by very large academic libraries. TexShare also promotes resource sharing in cooperative lending agreements where the students and faculties of both the Victoria College and the University of Houston-Victoria enjoy borrowing privileges at over 60 academic and public libraries throughout the state.

The Coastal Bend Health Information Network provides interlibrary load privileges to its member libraries and hospitals, enhancing the VC/UHV Library's ability to serve the information needs of the Victoria College Nursing programs.

Coordination with our sister libraries of the University of Houston system has enabled us to purchase TDNet, a serials management system, which allows us to quickly identify our full-text holdings.
