GRANTS |
The Library (on behalf of both VC and UHV) received a TIF grant in the amount of $114,255 to upgrade and expand the Media Library's video distribution capabilities. The expansion is about 90% complete and will allow video viewing at the public workstations in the Main Library and in classrooms in VC's Allied Health Building and Language Building and UHV's University Center and University West.
The Library was funded in the amount of $18,671 for a TexTreasures grant through the TexShare program administered by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. Using photographs and negatives from the Library's Photograph Collection, this project, Victoria, Crossroads of Immigration, 1824-1944, has allowed the Library to scan over 4,200 images. Soon, these historical photographs will be accessible through the Library's web page.
This project was used as a pilot project for UHV's Data Imaging Project. Grant funds plus institutional funds purchased a server, scanners, and LaserFiche software, as well as provided funding for temporary scanning staff. Scanning of historical and current documents is underway in the Office of Admissions and Records and the School of Education, with future plans to include other departments, divisions, and schools.
