TexShare, the statewide library cooperation program in Texas,
includes public and private universities, community colleges, and public libraries.
Major features of the TexShare program include statewide licensing of
online databases, a TexShare borrower's card, a courier service (TExpress),
and a grants program (TexTreasures) to assist in making locally-held resources
available statewide through the Internet. The TexShare databases account
for over 50% of the databases and online reference works listed on the
Library's web page . Additional information on
TexShare may be found on the web page of the Texas State Library and Archives
Commission.
Victoria
Public Library
Since 1982, the VC/UHV Library has shared an online catalog
and integrated library automation system with the Victoria Public Library.
The libraries have received grant funds for the initial purchase as well
as for major upgrades of the system, and the libraries share costs for the
ongoing maintenance and operation of the system. Additional information
about the
Victoria Public Library may be found on their web site.
Coastal
Bend Health Information Network
The
Coastal Bend Health Information Network is a consortium of educational
institutions and hospital libraries and is affiliated with Texas A&M
System's
Coastal Bend Health Education Center . In addition to this library,
members include Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Coastal Bend College,
Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and the hospital libraries in the Corpus
Christi area. Some of our online resources are partially funded by our membership
in this consortium.
Victoria
County Genealogical Society
The Library has provided office space for the Victoria County Genealogical
Society during the time the Society has been collecting materials and
editing the three volumes of its History and Heritage of Victoria County.
The profits from these publications are being donated to the Library.
The Library's Victoria Regional History Center, as well as its main book
collection, contain many historical resources of interest to genealogists,
and the Society's gifts will be used to enhance the historical and genealogical
resources and services available to students, faculty, and the general
public. Additional information on the
Victoria County Genealogical Society may be found on their web page.
Museum
of the Coastal Bend
The Library continues to work closely with the Victoria
College's Museum of the Coastal Bend, which will open in 2003. The Library
is developing a collection of materials on museum operations, and will
be providing the research resources to support the collections and exhibits
of the museum. Also, the Library has developed and continues to maintain
the web page for the
Museum of the Coastal Bend .
